This year, from 28 July to 8 August, the 23rd World Scout Jamboree will be held at Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi, Japan.
The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is the largest event organized by the Scout Movement, gathering up to 40 000 people from all over the world. It is the non-formal educational event for young people, to promote peace and understanding through a wide variety of activities, and interaction on the campsite.
Every four years, a different country hosts the World Scout Jamboree. The first WSJ was held in England in 1920, and the most recent WSJ was hosted by Sweden in 2011.
While the WSJ is open to Scouts between 14-17 years old, those aged 18 or older are eligible to participate as members of the International Service Team.
